Missed Reports and Saved Reports Logic
How Sensos devices handle missed reports and the logic behind saved reports.
Missed Reports
Sensos devices are designed to transmit data regularly, providing you with continuous visibility into your shipments. However, in some situations, a device may be unable to transmit a report at the scheduled time. This can occur due to various reasons, including:
- Network unavailability: The device may be in an area with no cellular connectivity.
- Flight mode: The device's transmitter is temporarily disabled during air transport.
When a device misses a report, it stores the data internally. Once the device can transmit again, it sends the stored reports, ensuring that no data is lost. The missed reports are sent with the original timestamp—i.e., the time when the event happened, and not when the report was sent or arrived.
Saved Reports Logic
Sensos devices are configured to save specific critical events, ensuring these are reported even if initial transmission is unsuccessful. It's important to note that only a single report per event type is saved, typically the first occurrence, except for shock events, where the report with the strongest parameters is saved. "Normal" reports like movement or static events are not saved to conserve battery life and avoid excessive cellular scans and transmission retries. Customers should expect that some messages may be lost in specific situations.
The following is a breakdown of the critical events that Sensos devices save:
- Temperature
When a temperature deviation occurs, the device automatically activates logging (if not already enabled) and saves the log. This log is retained until the data is successfully transmitted, providing a complete record of temperature conditions following the initial deviation. - Temperature Back In Range
- Takeoff
- Landing
- Light Breach*
- Light Arm*
- Tampering (seal open)
- Seal Applied
- Shock
- Humidity*
When a humidity deviation occurs, the device automatically activates logging (if not already enabled) and saves the log. This log is retained until the data is successfully transmitted, providing a complete record of humidity conditions following the initial deviation. - Humidity Back In Range*
Sensos devices are configured to save specific critical events, ensuring these are reported even if initial transmission is unsuccessful. It's important to note that for most event types, only a single critical report (e.g., the first instance of a temperature breach) is saved. The exception is Shock events, where the report with the strongest parameters is saved. For Temperature and Humidity breaches, beyond the initial critical alert, the device also automatically activates its logging feature (if not already enabled) and saves all subsequent log data until connectivity is regained. This ensures a complete record of conditions during the entire breach period.

Important Notes
For “normal” reports (e.g., movement, static updates), these are not saved during offline periods. This design choice optimizes battery usage by preventing excessive transmission retries and prolonged cellular scans. Therefore, customers should expect that some non-critical messages may not be received if the device is out of connectivity for extended periods.
